What To Do If You Are Arrested

It can feel overwhelming when you are arrested, but you need to remain calm. You have rights, you have the right to remain silent.  The Constitution of the United States is clear and the police must respect your right to remain silent, the right not to answer questions, and the right to consult an attorney prior to answering. Your silence cannot be used against you. No matter what the arresting officer may say, you should not answer them if it would incriminate you.

You also have the right to an attorney, and you can demand a phone call to reach out to one. Once you have invoked your desire to have an attorney, the police cannot continue to question you without your lawyer present. If you are arrested, called for questioning, or learn of potential allegations against you, don’t wait, call us immediately, it’s your right.
